Peruvian Aji De Gallina (Peruvian Spicy Creamed Chicken)--A Great One-Pot Meal!

Being married to a Peruvian man has exposed me to some really great, though unusual, food. Peruvian food is flavorful, a little spicy and, well, odd! Peruvian dishes are composed of some food combinations that American palates may find a bit odd...one popular dish consists of a beef and tomato stir-fry served over white rice and topped with french fries! While I was hesitant to try this the first time, it is now one of my favorites. The recipe I am sharing today is a creamy, one-pot chicken…See More

Teething Troubles!!!!!

Sorry for my absence, but I've been in the trenches of the teething baby all week! Little Henry is cutting not one, not two, but SIX teeth, including three canines, all at once. You can probably imagine how my week has gone! Anybody have any suggestions for me? I've been through this before with Brett, but he was really easy-going about it, so when my sweet baby Henry morphed overnight into a crying, screaming drooling beast, I was really surprised! Right now I am using Tylenol ( a last resort,…See More

Best Natural Peanut Butters

I thought the perfect follow-up to my freezer jam post would be one on peanut butter! Who doesn't love a peanut butter and jam sandwich?Unfortunately, most of the commercially produced peanut butter you find in the grocery store has way to much sugar and bad fats! I have compiled a list of natural peanut butter brands that I enjoy:Marantha brand Natural Style Peanut Butter--smooth and creamy, not oily at all!Smuckers brand Natural Peanut Butter Honey Roasted--GREAT honey flavor, mildly…See More

Yummy Freezer Jams!

One of my favorite summertime treats is delicious freezer jams made from all the seasonal fruits of summer! In a small saucepan, combine pectin and water and…See More

Thanks for posting this about butter. I have been using butter for a long time . Margrine is not allowed in my house. Thanks for telling me about "The Nourishing Gourmet" website. I went to it and found a lot of neat recipes.

The Soap That Does It All!

Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap has been around for a long time, but like me, you've probably never really heard about it. Well, let me just tell you, it might just be one of the BEST products of all time! This soap has so many uses, from personal use to housecleaning. I find this all-in-one product to be very cost-efficient, as it can be used in so many ways, and a large, 32-ounce bottle costs about $14.00, depending on where you buy it. I have found it on sale at my local co-op for as low as $8.00!…See More
